Healthy & Safe Environments
Your child’s health and safety is paramount at The Cottage School.
We encourage your child to learn and become aware of their own health and well-being and to take responsibility for it. We provide opportunities for your child to participate in Stretch and Grow Classes, teach and encourage healthy habits, support participation in healthy and nutritious meal service; including encouragement for them to try new foods.
We grow our own garden and provide opportunities for children to participate in indoor and outdoor gardening. We also provide opportunities for structured physical games and activities.
The toddler yoga activities are adorable as they show off their flexibility and balance. The Preschool class loves to act out the “Little Birdies” including creating silence in the nest, and the Pre-K and School-Age children enjoy participating in outdoor play, which includes time to explore the natural world, play games and organized sport activities.
Our classrooms are properly maintained and professionally cleaned daily by Stratus Green Clean. In addition, to daily and weekly cleaning schedules; toys in the infant and toddler classrooms are sanitized daily. The classrooms for the older children follow a strict weekly cleaning and sanitation schedule to ensure that all classrooms and equipment are clean and maintained .
When Illness do occur, we ask that parents keep their child home if they are experiencing symptoms such as running a temperature over 101 degrees until the child is fever free for 24 hours. When a child is experiencing recurring diarrhea, an occurrence of vomiting, has discharge from the eyes or generally not well enough to participate in all classroom activities including outdoor time, we will request that the child be picked -up. Our classrooms are busy places, children who are too sick to participate are requested to stay home until they are feeling better.
