Our Early Childhood Program
In our program, each child is respected and recognized as an individual. Parents and teachers will work together to develop an ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) for their child. Each fall (or shortly after time of enrollment) parents and teachers will meet and discuss the data from the parent completed ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire), classroom observations and the parents concerns and desires for their child. This information will be used to develop the ILP which will be utilized throughout the year.
In our school, we look to nature and the natural world to guide our curriculum and program. Our playgrounds are naturally landscaped with trees, grass, gardens and elements of nature. Our classrooms bring nature inside with large, child level windows, natural wood, marine fish tanks, plants the children care for and the purposeful absence of plastic when possible.
Our Contemporary Montessori philosophy is evident with the inclusion of the sensorial, practical life, math, language arts, science and geography materials in the Primary (ages 2 1/2 years through Kindergarten) classrooms. In all our programs, we focus on learning about our relationship with the Earth and all living things that share our Earth home. We also explore the importance of how we, as humans, interact with our natural environment.
Our Infant and Toddler programs incorporate Montessori style classroom philosophy into a loving, responsive and relationship based program. Here parents will see teachers are on the floor engaged, supporting and guiding the infants and toddlers natural curiosity about the world they live in.
